2011 is going to be a huge year for Dj Kool Dek. After years of MCing, B-Boying, Djing, promoting parties and eating liquorice sticks, he’s decided to pull a few musical tricks out of his hat. Heavily influenced by the Golden Era of Hip-Hop, Jackin’ House, Jungle, Old Skool Techno, Hardgroove and Caribbean stuff like Henry Belafonte, you can already feel that he’s going to be one of the big surprises. Especially with tunes already released on the hottest tech labels around such as; Saved, Be As One, Monique Musique and Zoo: Technique.

You can see Kool Dek’s heavily influenced by Hip-Hop through his sampling, making old beats sound new. Although, recently there’s been a huge amount of sampling in House music, even Dj Sneak’s been sampling 50 Cent (god knows why), for me Kool Dek has got sampling spot on. He’s been sampling a lot of great Hip-Hop tracks in the past and putting an Old Skool Jackin’ House spin into it. Enough of the talking though let Kool Dek’s music speak for itself, it’s safe to say that I’ve definitely found a new favourite artist. He’s also already lapped up support from the likes of Carl Cox, Marco Carola, Butch, Jet Project, Pete Tong, the list goes on and on and on…
